Namgyal Yeshi is a new artist living in New York City, born in the eastern Kham region of Tibet. Namgyal grew up in a family of nomads where he learned nomad songs from a very early age. The primary work of his family was raising animals. There was no TV, no radio and no money used. He walked across the Himalayan Mountains to freedom when he was a teenager.
Namgyal has released the first Tibetan Political Rap album which is entitled “Liberation”. His music is dedicated to civil liberties heroes such as Pawo Thupten Ngodup,the Panchen Lama,Tenzin Gelek Rinpoche and to all the Tibetans. He has a new rap cd coming out entitled Saya Dhuk which means Six Million.
